WEEK 7

17/5/21 - I now have all my images and am very pleased with them, i have been working on light room today slightly editing my images so they all correspond to eachother within colour and contrast. Having all my images allows me to start placing the images on a page which i enjoy as i explore how my images work together on a double page. Today in the studio i presented my site piece and explained how and why i did what i did, receiving feedback from my class was helpful as someone mentioned that taking the weather into consideration was viable when placing things outside which i hadn't really thought about. Past students sketchbooks and zines were left out for us to look through which gave me a clear idea of how my sketchbook should look and gave me ideas of what i can add to mine, from small sketches to using paint and other materials. The zines i saw were very inspiring and allowed me to understand i can push my work further when getting it printed and there are different paper options which can change the style of a publication completely. Now that i have all my images i am focusing on how i will place them on the page and what type of text to add. Having a tutorial with Lucy today has made me feel more calm in my work as well as given me ideas for my typography as we talked about how text can give the zine more of a flow whether that's labelling the location, time or person. Over this next week i want to have finished my zine digitally so it is ready to be printed by next week.

19/05/21 - I printed my first draft of the zine on plain a4 paper and bound it together with thread giving me a clear idea of how it will look while allowing me to see what pages work well next to each other or what images don't fit the zine well and need to be taken out. I took a few of the night images out which are more dark and party like which i now know wasn't the best idea as it broke up the pages from being bright and colourful across multiple pages. I've decided to add a black and white page as it switches it up and in a book i found there was just one page like this which changes the feel and refreshes the brain i fell. Sorting the page order is still in process as i want other people's opinions which i will ask tomorrow in studio and include their answers in my sketchbook.

20/05/21 - today I spent the whole day in the digital media suite to finalise my zine document, I had to resize the pages so they are printed out A5 per page. This was tricky however, I understood fast and had the help of James and fortunately I learned a lot on indesign in the space of 4 hours. I sent off my document to Panopus and specified what type of paper I want as well as the binding style, they're replied quickly letting me know the paper I wanted was unable to be used for zine making so I asked for the most textured papers and for them to staple it when binding.

21/05/21 - Deciding on how I want to present my work on Thursday for the instillation is tricky as I am working with small pieces such as zines however, i think I want to print some of my images in A3 and place them on the wall above where my zine will be placed. This allows certain images to stand out more as in a zine everything gets lost within each other, I want them printed glossy as the zine is in a matte style paper and I feel on a big scale glossy is more effective specifically with the colour palette.
